Jamaican Hotels Work to Restore Rooms After Hurricane Damage

Jamaica’s tourism industry is continuing its recovery, with hotels that were damaged or closed after Hurricane Melissa working towards reopening. Several properties used JAPEX 2026 to promote their return to the market.

Some hotels have reopened partially, while others remain closed while rebuilding and upgrading their facilities.

SeaGarden Resorts, for example, reopened 100 of its 214 rooms while continuing work on its property. The restoration of hotel rooms is important because accommodation capacity affects the number of visitors Jamaica can host.

Tourism businesses outside hotels are also affected by the pace of recovery. Restaurants, taxi operators, attractions and local suppliers depend heavily on visitors.

The return of more rooms should strengthen Jamaica’s ability to respond to international travel demand. The industry is using tourism events such as JAPEX to rebuild relationships with travel buyers and promote the island’s recovery.
