Jamaica recorded 2.34 million visitor arrivals and approximately US$2.5 billion in tourism earnings by the end of August 2026. The figures show continuing international demand for Jamaica even as parts of the tourism industry continue recovering.
Tourism businesses have been dealing with reduced hotel capacity following Hurricane Melissa, which damaged a number of properties on the island. The reduction in available rooms has affected the number of visitors Jamaica can accommodate.
Despite those challenges, the island continues to attract travellers from major international markets. Hotels, restaurants, attractions, transportation providers and other businesses are benefiting from visitors who continue to choose Jamaica.
The tourism sector remains a major source of employment and business opportunities across the country. A sustained recovery could therefore have an impact on communities well beyond the traditional resort areas.
Jamaican tourism officials are now focusing on restoring hotel capacity and preparing for further growth. With more accommodation returning to service, the industry expects to be in a stronger position to welcome visitors in the months ahead.
